Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Who is hosting this event?
The Stratford Country Club, in partnership with the City of Stratford, is proud to be hosting The Dominion Tankard in February 2012 at the Stratford Rotary Complex.

Q. How do teams qualify to participate?
The Dominion Tankard is an Ontario Curling Association (OCA) sanctioned event. The eventual winner will go on to compete as Ontario’s representative at the Brier (Canadian Championship). Eleven teams will be competing. One team has already qualified to compete for the opportunity to represent Ontario at the 2012 Brier (Canadian Championship). Defending Champions Glenn Howard, Wayne Middaugh, Brent Laing and Craig Savill will be in Stratford in February to compete. Eight additional teams will be declared through OCA regional playdowns (to be completed in January 2012) and the remaining two spots will be filled by the winners of the OCA’s Challenge Round – a “last chance” opportunity for teams to qualify, also to be completed in January 2012.

Q. I see there are currently Weekday and Weekend Event Passes for sale. When will single game tickets be available for purchase?
That’s right, we are currently selling Weekday and Weekend Event Passes. Click here for an Order Form. Single game tickets will be available in January. In the meantime, why not treat that hard-to-shop-for person on your holiday gift list to some great on-ice action at The Dominion Tankard? And they’re sure to enjoy the festive atmosphere in the Bard’s Brew House!

Q. What is the difference between General Admission and End Zone seating?
End Zone seating will be installed in the RBC Arena especially for the Tankard at one end of the ice surface. The view from this bench seating will be looking down the ice – you’ll basically see what the skips see! Patrons in the General Admission area will be looking across all five sheets of ice with a great view of our big screen, which will be showing Rogers coverage of the Tankard.

Q. I’ve purchased Event Passes. Where is my money going?
The Stratford Country Club is handling all revenue and expense monies for the Tankard.
